Determining of the Priorities of Government Intervention in the Health System in Iran Based on Survey of Experts (AHP Method)

Health policy as an aspect of socio-economic policies is one of the important government duties. The range of the government intervention in the health sector is very broad and even involves buying the services or delivering the services. In this regard, one of the fundamental questions is that the degree of government intervention in the health sector always improves the quality of the health services. Accordingly, health care costs are one of the public policy aspects. In this study, we investigate how government should intervene in the system and based on a survey of experts’ opinion what is the prioritization of government spending on the health market?The results of the survey show that priority of government spending on the system is the health costs with the prevention approach which is including environmental health and Monitoring of food pharmaceutical and medical goods safety, R&D, outpatient care, medical education, health care, long-term nursing care, and the construction of the facility.
